Brenda Ronowicz lives in the beautiful Waikato village of Pirongia, New Zealand. As a textile artist Brenda works with fabrics of all colours and textures to create wall art, apparel, and heritage quilts. Having worked with fabric from an early age she has an inherent understanding of how the colours and patterns work together.
Layering is a technic that features throughout her work, creating depth and interest.
Vintage fabric is a strong element in Brenda's work, repurposing long forgotten treasures. She is also competent and gifted in needlework and it is this creative knowledge that threads her works together.
In 2011 Brenda began a collaboration with Mark Braunias, a modernist abstract painter/artist who lives in the coastal community of Kawhia. Mark paints the designs and then Brenda interprets his designs into quilted art. Their work exhibits in galleries in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
Brenda has sold her own creations locally for many years.
